Posting regular content on your website in the form of articles, blogs or otherwise is a fantastic way to drive traffic to your site. Thus, if you’re a business, you’ll likely increase your exposure, customer base and hopefully your profit margins. But what’s the point in writing dozens of articles if nobody is clicking on the links? Even if your content is top quality, it’s no good if nobody is reading it. That’s where SEO comes in. It’s essential to optimise your blogs and articles to make sure that Google and other search engines rank them highly. If you’re looking to become a professional SEO writer, or at least up your game, then this is the article for you. Here are some top tips and ‘secrets’ regarding SEO writing:

  • Don’t write short articles: Although publishing an article of fewer than 100 words might be better than nothing, longer articles are much more likely to rank well on search engines. There has been a lot of research showing that search engines prefer longer content of more than 2000 words. While you’re unlikely to publish something like this to begin with, it is a goal to strive for.

  • Monitor your bounce rate: If your bounce rate is high, then there is a good chance that your website is not correctly optimised, and that those who visit your website are actually after something else. Either that or you’ve got to improve the quality of your content. You should always check your analytics to make sure you are doing the right thing – Google Analytics is the best way to be monitoring this.

  • Do some keyword research: Find out what people are actually searching in Google for. If you know the certain words and phrases to put into your articles, then you’re going to immediately see an uptick in traffic. Create a spreadsheet with all of the keywords you should be using and how often you use each one in your articles.

  • Don’t overuse keywords: If you overuse your keywords, search engines will be able to pick up on this, and it may even damage your ranking rather than improve it. Your main keyword should be mentioned three times – in your title, in the first 300 words, and in one of your headings. This doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t be using variations of your keyword throughout the text, though.

Sometimes, creating SEO-optimised content can be extremely time consuming and difficult, especially when having to write articles which are longer than 2000 words. For this reason, rather than dedicating time and effort into doing this yourself, it may be worthwhile hiring an SEO company. If you’re looking for SEO services in Bristol, then look no further – Noisy Digital is your answer.
